The Green Knight

I recently saw The Green Knight and was blown away by the cinematography and all of the different visual elements. It's been in the back of my mind since I watched it. Like most A24 films, it doesn't hold your hand and generally leaves you with more questions than answers.

I think it's similar to the Souls-born games in the way. I'd love to see other people's takes on the story and characters. These 3 obviously stuck out the most in my mind. I really loved Joel Edgerton and both of Alicia Vikander's characters (the whole cast is really great, to be honest). It also really makes me want to check out more of David Lowery's previous work. The only other movie I remember seeing of his was A Ghost Story and I enjoyed that too.

The Art

If you've read some of my previous posts about bringing that traditional art feel into digital work I think I got pretty close with this so far. I also tried it on a red background but didn't feel like it was there yet. Another big focus of mine recently is being really bold with my shadows or in comic terms "spot blacks". In this instance, using it to build up depth and texture on Gawain's shirt. When I revisit on my way to finishing this I'm hoping I'll be bold enough to add some of that into the fox.

I'll probably want to add more of the dry ink brush to get some more texture in there and maybe steal Sean Gordon Murphy's trick of throwing a fingerprint in there.
